Netflix and CBS ink two-year content deal

Netflix on Tuesday announced a new deal with CBS that will bring shows from the CBS library to Netflixs portfolio of streaming content. The news comes on the same day Amazon finally debuted its new streaming video service for Amazon Prime members. Netflix and CBS did not disclose the terms of the deal, saying only that it will bring CBS content to Netflixs Watch Instantly service for the next two years. CBS also has an option to extend the deal for another two years.Content covered by this new deal includes episodes of new shows such asMedium and Flashpoint, as well as full seasons of shows like Frasier and Cheers. CBS and Netflix Announce Two-Year Licensing Agreement For Library Content

NEW YORK and BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. February 22, 2011 CBS Corporation [NYSE: CBS.A and CBS] and Netflix, Inc. [Nasdaq: NFLX] today announced a two-year, non-exclusive licensing agreement that will allow select TV shows from CBSs library, including episodes ofMedium and Flashpoint as well as full seasons of classics such as Frasier, and Cheers, to be streamed instantly from Netflix.CBS retains an option to extend the agreement for up to two additional years. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Beginning in early April, dozens of hit shows from CBS wil! l join t he extensive library of television shows and movies available to watch instantly from Netflix for only $7.99 a month.

Content covered under the new deal includes the long-running drama, Medium and the summer season favorite, Flashpoint. Also covered under the agreement are episodes from some of televisions most iconic franchises. Full seasons of sitcom greats Frasier, Family Ties and Cheers will be streaming instantly from Netflix. Episodes from the original Hawaii Five-0 are included in the package, as are episodes from all generations of the definitive sci-fi series, Star Trek, and the cult favorite, Twin Peaks. Installments of 60s classics, The Twilight Zone and The Andy Griffith Show, will be available as well.

Flipboard needs to branch its content out from US/UK, heres why

Earlier this month, an eagerly anticipated iPhone app was finally launched as Flipboard took its highly acclaimed iPad app to the phone. The app has been out for a few weeks and, with the deafening chorus of cheers fading, Ive found myself shunning its beautiful and innovative design for the simple fact that its content isnt relevant enough for me. Compared to Zite , which may not be as aesthetically pleasing, Flipboard comes up wanting on content. Zite is, among others , an app which aggregates content from my social web Twitter, Google Reader and others giving it to me in a magazine style layout. Though it lacks the page flipping ingenuity of Flipboard, the reading is more varied, which is ultimately what Im looking for from a social magazine. Digitimes: Apples iPhone 5 to include smaller screen and metal chassis

Contray to previous reports that suggested Apples next-generation iPhone would include a 4.2-inch touch screen panel, Asian technology publication Digitimes reports that the device will feature a smaller 4-inch panel, adapting the rear of the device to ship with a metal chassis instead of reinforced glass.
