HP TouchPad reportedly launching in April

In an effort to make sure it isnt left behind as manufacturers race to get their tablet devices to market, Digitimes is reporting that HP is to launch its WebOS 3.0-powered HP TouchPad tablet in April, possibly fulfilling orders by the end of March.

HPs TouchPad, announced at the beginning of February, will form part of a push from HP that will see between 45-48 million notebooks and tablet PCs shipped in 2011. An internal estimation puts shipments of HPs TouchPad series at 5 million units.

Currently, the HP website states the Touchpad has planned availability this summer, which wouldnt tally with the April launch that component suppliers are suggesting. It is possible that HP will amend its plans to ensure it has a product on the market before the new Apple iPad and the introduction of numerous Android Honeycomb tablets.

The TouchPad will ship with the newest dual core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor. It will also feature a9.7-inch XGA (1024768) display and will be 13.7mm thick, packing 1GB of RAM and will come in 16GB or 32GB models.

HPs screen ratio differs from that of its Android rivals, adopting a 4:3 aspect ratio compared to the 16:10 design that many manufacturers are employing on their Android Honeycomb rivals.

Flipboard needs to branch its content out from US/UK, heres why

Earlier this month, an eagerly anticipated iPhone app was finally launched as Flipboard took its highly acclaimed iPad app to the phone. The app has been out for a few weeks and, with the deafening chorus of cheers fading, Ive found myself shunning its beautiful and innovative design for the simple fact that its content isnt relevant enough for me. Compared to Zite , which may not be as aesthetically pleasing, Flipboard comes up wanting on content. Zite is, among others , an app which aggregates content from my social web Twitter, Google Reader and others giving it to me in a magazine style layout. Though it lacks the page flipping ingenuity of Flipboard, the reading is more varied, which is ultimately what Im looking for from a social magazine. Digitimes: Apples iPhone 5 to include smaller screen and metal chassis

Contray to previous reports that suggested Apples next-generation iPhone would include a 4.2-inch touch screen panel, Asian technology publication Digitimes reports that the device will feature a smaller 4-inch panel, adapting the rear of the device to ship with a metal chassis instead of reinforced glass.
