Google Calendar Gets a Makeover


Google is getting a complete makeover as part of the transition to Google+. Googles popular calendaring service is no exception.

The redesigned Google Calendar, which rolled out to users on Wednesday, are designed to be just cosmetic. Google hasnt added any new features to Calendar, but instead has made it look more like Google+.

Some of the changes to Google Calendar include merging the Quick Add button with the Create button, adding more icons for functions such as Print, Refresh, reminders and guests, and the removal of the Save and Discard buttons on the bottom of the page. The big change that users will notice though is the blockier interface, the changes in color and the increased use of white space for the background.

In an announcement, Google says that the changes are all about removing clutter and increasing the interoperability between the desktop and mobile devices.

The way people use and experience the web is evolving, and our goal is to give you a more seamless and consistent online experience one that works no matter which Google product youre using or what device youre using it on, the company said.

The search giant recently redesigned its popular homepage with a smaller logo and the darker Google+ navigation bar. Expect more Google products to be redesigned to fit in with Googles new social project.

To see the revamped look for Google Calendar, click Try the new look in the upper right corner of the app. You can always go back to the old way if you dont like the redesign.

Flipboard needs to branch its content out from US/UK, heres why

Earlier this month, an eagerly anticipated iPhone app was finally launched as Flipboard took its highly acclaimed iPad app to the phone. The app has been out for a few weeks and, with the deafening chorus of cheers fading, Ive found myself shunning its beautiful and innovative design for the simple fact that its content isnt relevant enough for me. Compared to Zite , which may not be as aesthetically pleasing, Flipboard comes up wanting on content. Zite is, among others , an app which aggregates content from my social web Twitter, Google Reader and others giving it to me in a magazine style layout. Though it lacks the page flipping ingenuity of Flipboard, the reading is more varied, which is ultimately what Im looking for from a social magazine. Digitimes: Apples iPhone 5 to include smaller screen and metal chassis

Contray to previous reports that suggested Apples next-generation iPhone would include a 4.2-inch touch screen panel, Asian technology publication Digitimes reports that the device will feature a smaller 4-inch panel, adapting the rear of the device to ship with a metal chassis instead of reinforced glass.
