Radar Founder launches The Fix: featuring sex, drugs and rehab

The Fix isa site about addiction and recovery, but not from the superficial self-helpangle. Its a mix of crazy stories of addictiondrugs, booze and sex with advice from therapists and doctors.

The site, which officially launches today, was created by Radar Magazine Founder Maer Roshan, who after selling Radar over two years ago, moved to LA and entered rehab for alcohol abuse. Joe Schrank, an interventionist, and the Founder and CEO of The Core Company, is also a Co-Founder of The Fix and its Editor-at-Large.

Because Maer is so connected, he has celebs like Courtney Love and Colin Quinn involved. The site will mix serious subjects such asaddiction and rehabilitation with humor, celebrity content, feature writing, news, video andZagat-like reviews of rehab facilities. Imagine an AA after party, hosted by TMZ.

Asked whether its appropriate to apply humor to such a serious subject, Roshan told The Observer, Addiction is a serious thing, but I dont think it has to be treated in a deadly serious mannerTheres no rule out there that sobriety is supposed to be this dull, earnest monastic exercise. Theres tons of humor in the surreal situations that we find ourselves in. The Fix iscertainlynot going to ignore that.

To complement the stories on its site,The Fix createda VYou channel with 20 contributors celebs like! Party G irl author and executive editor Anna David, rock mess Courtney Love, actor Tom Sizemore,comedian Colin Quinn, and former stripper Ruth Fowler, as well as counselors like Addicted expert Kristina Wandzilak, psychotherapist Carder Stout, and Transcend Sober Living general manager Justin Hewitt. This girl has to wonder, when is Charlie Sheen getting on board?

Flipboard needs to branch its content out from US/UK, heres why

Earlier this month, an eagerly anticipated iPhone app was finally launched as Flipboard took its highly acclaimed iPad app to the phone. The app has been out for a few weeks and, with the deafening chorus of cheers fading, Ive found myself shunning its beautiful and innovative design for the simple fact that its content isnt relevant enough for me. Compared to Zite , which may not be as aesthetically pleasing, Flipboard comes up wanting on content. Zite is, among others , an app which aggregates content from my social web Twitter, Google Reader and others giving it to me in a magazine style layout. Though it lacks the page flipping ingenuity of Flipboard, the reading is more varied, which is ultimately what Im looking for from a social magazine. Digitimes: Apples iPhone 5 to include smaller screen and metal chassis

Contray to previous reports that suggested Apples next-generation iPhone would include a 4.2-inch touch screen panel, Asian technology publication Digitimes reports that the device will feature a smaller 4-inch panel, adapting the rear of the device to ship with a metal chassis instead of reinforced glass.
