Dell to invest US$250 bln in China by 2020

Dec. 16, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Dell Inc, the world's second-largest PC maker, on Dec. 14 said that it has more than doubled its capital expenditure in China from US$100 billion to US$250 billion for the next ten years.
Amit Midha, the firm's head of Greater China and South Asia, said Dell is on track to spend US$25 billion in the Chinese market this year.
In addition, Dell will launch a 10-inch tablet PC globally by the spring of next year, Midha added without elaborating, but he confirmed that these products will enter the Chinese market sooner or later.
In September, Dell announced plans to build its second major Chinese operation center in Chengdu, Sichuan Province after the establishment of its first one in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
The company also intends to set uo 800 service centers in small Chinese cities by the end of 2011, sources reported.
