Showcase your design talent on the go with Viewbooks beautiful iPad app

Viewbook is an online platform aimed at helping designers and artists share their work in good-looking, easy-to-use portfolios. You can even sell your work through the service. Now the Dutch team behind the service has launched an iPad app.

Tablets such as the iPad are great for taking out and using to shareportfolioswith potential clients, and the Viewbook app is designed to make that process as easy as possible.

Integrating with your Viewbook account (nay,requiring a Viewbook account), you can view and manage your work much more easily than with Apples built-in gallery. As its not tied to iPhoto, images can be rearranged and new portfolios created on the fly all while looking positively gorgeous. Images can be shared right from the app by email and can also be downloaded for offline access in case you cant get a data connection when you meet that all-important client-to-be.

Thats not to say that its quite perfect. It would be great to be able to upload new images right from your iPads storage, while some of Viewbooks Web-based features, such as the ability to display your CV, arent present here in the apps current form.

Still, for anyone looking to take their! artwork , photographs or designs with them in an attractive, dynamic portfolio, Viewbooks iPad app is well worth trying. The app itself is free, although Viewbook charges a monthly or annual fee for its service after a 30-day free trial.

Flipboard needs to branch its content out from US/UK, heres why

Earlier this month, an eagerly anticipated iPhone app was finally launched as Flipboard took its highly acclaimed iPad app to the phone. The app has been out for a few weeks and, with the deafening chorus of cheers fading, Ive found myself shunning its beautiful and innovative design for the simple fact that its content isnt relevant enough for me. Compared to Zite , which may not be as aesthetically pleasing, Flipboard comes up wanting on content. Zite is, among others , an app which aggregates content from my social web Twitter, Google Reader and others giving it to me in a magazine style layout. Though it lacks the page flipping ingenuity of Flipboard, the reading is more varied, which is ultimately what Im looking for from a social magazine. Digitimes: Apples iPhone 5 to include smaller screen and metal chassis

Contray to previous reports that suggested Apples next-generation iPhone would include a 4.2-inch touch screen panel, Asian technology publication Digitimes reports that the device will feature a smaller 4-inch panel, adapting the rear of the device to ship with a metal chassis instead of reinforced glass.
